Prime Minister Narendra Modi was slated to hold a roadshow in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur on Sunday, but it has been cancelled due to heavy rain and bad weather in the city.
The Jharkhand unit of the BJP, through a post on X, said that there would be a change in PM Modi’s programme in the state.
“Notice – Due to heavy rain, the road show of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji scheduled in Jamshedpur today has been cancelled. Parivartan Maha Rally will take place as per its scheduled time”, the Jharkhand BJP post said.
Also, state BJP chief Babulal Marandi took to X and said that PM Modi’s roadshow in the steel city has been called off for the time being due to continuous rain.
“Due to the continuous heavy rain in Jamshedpur, the road show of Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji included in today’s programs in Jamshedpur has been cancelled for the time being”, Marandi said in the X post.
Due to the inclement weather conditions, PM Modi virtually flagged off six Vande Bharat trains for Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar and UP at Ranchi. He also distributed sanction letters to the 20,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) on Sunday.
PM Modi began a three-day visit to Jharkhand, Odisha and Gujarat on Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an alert of rain for east and centre-eastern states including Jharkhand, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh on Sunday.
“Deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal moved slowly westward near latitude 22.6 N and longitude 87.8 E, about 60 km west of Kolkata (West Bengal), 110 km southeast of Bankura (West Bengal), 170 km east of Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) and 270 km east-southeast of Ranchi (Jharkhand)”, the weather department posted on X.
“It is likely to move slowly, nearly westwards across Gangetic West Bengal and maintain its intensity of deep depression till evening of today, the 15th September. Thereafter, it will continue to move nearly westwards across Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh and weaken gradually into a depression during subsequent 24 hours”, the IMD update added.
